On Dec 8, 1999, COSCO Shipping Co., Ltd. (COSCOL) was jointly established by Guangzhou Ocean Shipping Company, Guangyuan Marine Service Company, China Ocean Shipping Agency Guangzhou, Shenzhen Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd. and COSCO Guangzhou International Freight Co., Ltd. On April 18, 2002, COSCOL went public at Shanghai Stock Exchange under the name of COSCO Shipping (600428), which marks the core business of COSCO entering China¡¯s capital market for the first time. COSCO Shipping (600428) has been included as the Shanghai Stock Exchange 180 Index since 2003. With registered capital of 655.2 million, COSCOL owns and operates 90 ships including heavy lift, semi-submersible, ro-ro/lo-lo, multi-purpose, general cargo ships and pure car carriers, totaling over 1,400,000 DWT.
